HUNTER TRIALS CHAMPIONSHIPS 2007

 TROPHIES TO TIPPERARY!

At this years hunter trials championships held in Boden Park, Ashbourne, Co Meath, Tipperary were well represented especially in the junior pairs. Our only senior pairs to travel were Fiona Falvey and Jane O’Brien and over what was an extremely technical and well presented course the girls came back with 10th place in the pairs competition. This was a great result in such a hot competition. We had 5 pairs competing for the National title in the junior pairs and our first pair out Kate O’Connor and Kate Mulvihill who were 2nd last year stepped up the pace and came home easy winners the fastest clear of the day! Congratulations girls a wonderful achievement. Jenni Dowley and Jennifer Larkin were unlucky as they were going extremely well when Jenni’s pony slipped on the flat forcing them to retire. Phillip Maher and David Bergin and Seamus Holohan and Jamie Deveraux all rode exceptionally well and had super rounds and will be a force to reckon with in the future. Mattie Holohan was forced to withdraw at the start leaving Tim O’Hagen riding solo which he did with style. In the junior singles Jennifer Larkin, Phillip Maher, David Bergin and Tim O’Hagen all had great rounds but it was Kate O’Connor who stole the show when again setting the fastest time of the competition to win the individual Championship! A wonderful achievement, WELL DONE KATE. The standard of turnout of the Tipperarys was exceptional as always. We would like to thank Anne Croome-Carroll who was team trainer for the day, and great support for both children and parents.

Avondhu Hunter Trial

The Avondhu Branch Hunter Trial takes place at Ballykenley, Glanworth, Co.Cork on Saturday 18th February - start 10.00am.

and would appreciate entries being sent in as soon as possible please.

The Mini course - 8 small fences in an enclosed field can be ridden as many times as you like, will run all day, and is designed to be used as a training exercise and experience for beginners. All entrants will receive a rosette.       It cannot be used as a warm-up for competition.

The Under 12 course is not restricted to that age, but can be ridden by beginners and novices  who feel unable to tackle the Junior (competition) class.  All entrants will receive a rosette whether they complete the course or not.   Although it would be very helpful to have entries for this class in advance, we will take entries on the field.

The competition classes are:-  Junior Pairs, Intermed.teams of 3 and Members teams of 3.

This is a lovely newly built course with made-up take off and landings so even when wet, the jumps are safe.  We hope you will all come along and enjoy a wonderful day.

Mini-Midi-Maxi

At our recent mini, midi, maxi competition in Belline Equestrian Centre, a great day was had by all the competitors.  We had a very exciting jump-off in the final of the 85cms -  results are  1st Mattie Holohan, 2nd Rosie Lonergan, 3rd Orla O'Dea, 4th Jenni Dowley, 5th Darina Miklis 6th Ana O'Brien.  Mattie scorched round in the time of 30.4 a clear second ahead of Rosie!  In the 1 metre competition, 1st place was shared by Darina Miklis and Natasha Corballis with Ellen Kehoe, Joseph O'Brien and Claire Lonergan coming equal 3rd.  Our thanks to Pat Walsh for building such good courses and to Niamh Tobin, Peter O'Donnell and Jean Meagher members of the junior committee who helped with the running of this day.
